The Walking Company: Company Background

The Walking Company has over 200 stores located across the United States in addition to its website. Headquarters is in Lincolnton, North Carolina, US.

Steve Adler, the co-founder of the company, came up with the idea along with Jim Argyropoulos. In the 1980's, the pair noticed that people were wearing runners for activities other than running and summed up the reason as a desire of the wearer for comfort. In 1991, the pair formed The Walking Company, which is dedicated to providing authentic comfort through its shoes. The Walking Company, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of The Walking Company Holdings, Inc.

Consumer Che gives The Walking Company one star out of five:

  • "Placed an online order and received shoes that had very visible marks on them ($140.00 Dansko!). How could they pass inspection?  Then it took me 3 tries to get through to the company and speak with someone."
